Figure 1 Containers sent annually by Mission World Aid, 1992 - November 2009
Figure 2 Cumulative total of containers sent by Mission World Aid, 1992 - November 2009
Containers have been sent to 25 countries as illustrated by Figure 3.

Figure 3 Number of containers sent per country

This is an aspect of what it is all about - enabling education through providing desks & equipment
Cost of sending containers
Containers typically cost between $5,000 and $15,000 to send overseas. The costs comprise the following components:
Local costs:
- Cost of container (if purchased)
- Trucking the container to the Mission Shed and back to the port
- Fumigation of the container following packing
- Miscellaneous (e.g. couriers)
Purchase costs:
- Purchase of any medical, pharaceutical, educational, agricultural implements and machinery costs
Shipping costs:
- Local handling
- Rail freight
- Sea freight
- Overseas port charges
- Forwarding costs at destination
Shipping costs are the major item, typically $7000 (but can range up to $15,000) while local costs average $2000. Purchase costs are generally low except where pharmeceuticals are involved. Where a container is purchased, rather than leased for the voyage, the cost will be $2,500 - $3,500.
Since 1992, Mission World Aid has spent over $700,000 on the program of sending containers to needy people throughout the world.
Mission World Aid has never received any government funding or assistance for its programs. Unfortunately philantropic funds are largely focussed on meeting needs within Australia and none provide funds for humitarian work of the type undertaken by Mission World Aid. It has never received assistance from AusAid.
